Elaine Chu was born and raised in San Francisco. She graduated from School of the Arts High School and went on to study painting and art history at the Maryland Institute College of Arts. After graduating she spent many years traveling and living in Philadelphia, New Orleans and Missouri. During her experiences she met many artists and friends that have influenced her work today. She owes much of her development and training as a muralist to Precita Eyes Muralists where she has been a part of for over a decade. Working mainly large scale and with different communities, she finds it challenging but rewarding to be able to bring a group of people to agree on one unified vision in a monumental scale. She also runs a collaborative called Twin Walls Mural Company with her best friend and fellow muralist Marina Perez- Wong. Together they want to share their love of bright color and realism with the world while holding down a strong Asian American Women influence in the street art world.
